Global Virtual Roundtable Event : The changing Landscape of Entrepreneurship Across Borders; Europe and US

Entrepreneurship discussion at its finest

The Business and Management Research Institute in partnership with Winifred Soribe Consult is organising a global roundtable event during which we host prominent leaders within the field of  entrepreneurship education to gain insights on the following topics:

  • Access to finance: The European pessimism, and the American Optimism – differences in culture and its implications (Gantenbein, Kind and Volonté, 2019). According to GEM 2021 report; the UK currently ranks 7th place with 5.6 for access to entrepreneurial finance, US – 9th place with 5.6 and Italy – 21stplace with 4.5 out of the 45 countries studied.

  • Access to entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities: post-secondary education in the field of entrepreneurship is equipping graduates with skills necessary to succeed in the real world. This metric is measured using GEM’s “Access to entrepreneurial education post school” which ranks the US in 7th place with 5.6, UK – 24th place with 4.5 and Italy – 29th place with 4.4. A total of 45 countries were studied (GEM, 2021).

  • Gender and its role in raising finance: The prevention and promotion approach to equity investing creates a disproportionate gap in funding allocation based on gender where female founders raise far less capital than their male counterparts (Kanze, 2020).

  • The role of mentorship in venture success: Outside knowledge in the form of mentors or board members brings along with it, new insight which gives entrepreneurs innovation advantage (Debellis et al., 2021).

  • Internationalization and Expansion: Ease of starting a business in the US or Europe with regards to regulations. The GEM 2021 ease of entry metric measures market burdens and regulations with the UK ranking 10th place with 5.2, US – 18th place with 4.5 and Italy at 24th place with 4.4. A total of 14 countries were studied.

Our panelists include leaders of global organisations who are leading the way in progressive entrepreneurial education namely Dr Rebecca Corbin of NACCE, Counsellor Timothy Barnes of NACUE, Mandy Sanghera,  philanthropist and human rights activist Dr Luisa Alemany  of London Business School, Seven Jacobs of Startrhub and Johan Franzén of Entnest.
